Always a surgeon. The Da Vinci system cannot operate on its own — your surgeon sits at a console and controls every movement in real time. The robot simply translates those movements with greater accuracy than the human hand alone.

Traditional open surgery requires large incisions, while laparoscopy is limited to simpler procedures. Da Vinci surgery bridges that gap — enabling complex operations through tiny incisions, with the full precision and control of open surgery.

Typically between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the complexity of the procedure. Your surgeon will give you a more precise estimate during your pre-operative consultation.

Candidacy depends on your diagnosis, overall health, and surgical history. Your surgeon at Woodlands will evaluate your case thoroughly and recommend the most appropriate approach. Robotic surgery is not indicated for every condition.

Preparation is similar to any other surgery — blood tests, CT/MRI scans, and a pre-operative evaluation. Our care team will guide you through all dietary and medication requirements ahead of your procedure.

Most patients return to normal activities within a week or less, thanks to smaller incisions and less trauma to the body. Follow-up appointments are typically scheduled within 3 to 7 days after discharge.
