Eligibility for Admission

  • 10 (Ten) seats are vacant in Woodlands College of Nursing; registered candidates who were not allotted any seats after 4th counselling may apply online to the chairperson, central selection committee for nursing in the email id medcon15kolkata@gmail.com between 06/10/16-17/10/16.

  • Admission to BSc Nursing Course – For detailed information access www.wbmcc.nic.in.
  • The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st Dec of the year of admission.
  • The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of:
    Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination. (12 years course) or Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2), or an equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or university with Science ( Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum of 50 % aggregate marks (PCBE).
  • Entrance / Selection test
  • Selection of the candidates is based on the merit of the joint entrance examination held by JENPARH.

About Us

Woodlands School of Nursing started in the year 1995. It is situated in Bhasa, 24 Parganas(S), 3 Kms away from the city limits, on Diamond Harbour Road , amidst serene surroundings. The School is a spacious three storied building housed in a sprawling campus with residential facilities for 360 students. It is recognised by the West Bengal Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council. Practical training is imparted to the students at Woodlands Hospital where the students gain adequate experience in the various specialities and latest diagnostic equipment. Regular reserved bus service is provided by the Hospital for the students. The faculty strives for excellence and aims at providing value based nursing education, moulding students into skilled and efficient nurses who can serve competently both in India and abroad. The school expects decorum, diligence and determination from its students to achieve academic excellence and the faculty provides all the necessary infrastructure and support.

We are glad that our alumni are today holding senior posts in different institutions. Some of them are pursuing higher studies.

The faculty of Woodlands School of Nursing strives for excellence and aims at preparing students to be the best nurses in India, to serve competently anywhere.


Woodlands School of Nursing, provided training to equip our nurses with professional expertise to meet the changing demands of society and to achieve this, emphasis is laid to impart the knowledge and skills most relevant to health care of the community and the country as a whole.


The course commences in September and spreads over three academic years- two years in General Nursing and Paediatric Nursing, Six months in Midwifery & Community Health Nursing and Six months of internship period.


  • Only female candidates may apply.
  • Age between 17 to 27 years as on 1st January 2016.
  • Minimum qualification - 10+2 with at least 40% pass in Higher Secondary Examination conducted by Govt. of West Bengal or its equivalent, Knowledge of English is necessary for all candidates.
  • Candidates shall be a citizen of India and a resident of West Bengal for at least last five years preceding the date of making application for admission to the school.

About The GNM Programme

The successful completion of each year in the School and the WBNC Examination, students will be promoted to the next academic year. Students will get vacation as per WBNC norm.

On behalf of Woodlands School of Nursing I welcome you to this prestigious institute of learning for the next 3 years. We at woodlands consider our Institution as our family and each member of our faculty and staff thrive continuously to achieve the highest standard of training, practice and care of the patient for which woodlands is well known all over the State. This is why we have been awarded the “Best Performer Award” among all the non-Govt. nursing schools in West Bengal by the West Bengal Nursing Council.

Nursing is a profession that requires a person to be capable of doing many tasks at a time with compassion and dedication. This is a challenging career which needs continuous updation.

A nurse in todays world is very different from their predecessors. The basic concept is the same but the skill and knowledge required has undergone a sea change with the advancing medical technology and intelligence.

Education and training has a significant impact on the knowledge and competencies of a nurse and we are proud to say that the GNM nurses passing out from the Woodlands School of Nursing are prized for their skill, critical thinking, leadership, case management, health promotion and for their sustained ability to practice across a variety of inpatient and outpatient setting. Presently college is led by highly qualified 9 post graduate enthusiastic & experienced faculty members who guide and supervise students with personal touch and attention enabling them to imbibe zest towards nursing service. Also 13 highly skillful clinical instructors supervise the students round the clock at clinical fields.

Beside internal faculty 7 external lecturers have been appointed to teach the basic science subjects and a few speciality subjects prescribed in the syllabus.

Faculty Achievements

Ms Aratrika Banerjee has successfully completed Masters in Psychotherapy and Counseling from Indian board of Alternative medicine in the year 2015.
Ms Mahuya Karmakar has successfully enrolled and undergoing the Masters in Dementia Studies from University of Stirling , UK through distance education.

Professional Activities by the Faculties

Beside the regular training programmes the faculty takes part in different professional activities.

  • Ms. Srinanda Ghosh and Ms Tinsy John of the college attended GFATM which is a Trainer for training of nurses on TB care and control in India conducted by West Bengal Govt. College of Nursing.
  • Ms. Mahuya Karmakar and Ms Tinsy John attended the National level conference as organizing committee team member on safe Infusion practices conducted by Infusion Nurses Society of India .
  • Ms. Tinsy John was a speaker for the workshop on advanced critical care nutrition organised by SATS Academy of Critical care medicine in collaboration with Medica Superspeciality Hospital.
  • Ms. Aratrika, Ms Saonli and Ms Rita has attended a two day workshop on SNOMED organized by Apollo Gleanegles.
  • Ms. Suvashri has organised Thallesemia screening camp for BSc nursing students with WB state Thallesemia control society ,IPGMER.
  • Team Woodlands College of Nursing has successfully organised intercollegiate quiz competition on Hospital Associated Infection to mark the international AIDS week among 15 colleges in and around Kolkata.
